• Defund police departments; use these funds instead to increase the budgets for public education, affordable housing, job training, and resourcing historically disadvantaged communities. No budget increases for police departments, especially as we enter a period of national austerity budgeting
• Demilitarize the police; end the sale of military-grade weaponry, vehicles, and materiel to state, county, and city police and sheriff's departments
• Reform policing practices; retrain police officers in deescalation tactics, end the use of any and all holds that restrict blood flow or oxygen to the brain, mandate that use of force be reserved as an absolute last resort, federally mandate police body cameras, and ban no-knock raids
• End special legal protections for police; Create city-specific civilian review boards empowered with investigatory and subpoena power and put a stop to qualified immunity for police officers, which often shields police officers from legal liability
